Who We Are. . .

Shawn Berard, President

Shawn BerardShawn manages cre8ive’s retail outlet, including purchasing and bulk sales to schools. He has accumulated 12 years experience in the creative supplies retail / wholesale industry, including purchasing and product development for the Manitoba market, as well as scholastic sales development for Western Canada. Shawn has earned a BFA Honours degree from the University of Manitoba, a Certificate of Completion from RRC for Entrepreneurial and Management Studies and completed the Self Employment Training program through the YMCA/YWCA.

Shawn is also a managing partner and co-creator of cre8ery gallery & studios, located at 125 Adelaide St. in the Exchange District.

Shawn's primary responsibilities include purchasing, marketing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, human resources, office management and corporate governance.

Val Huffman, Custom Framing & Promotions

Val HuffmanVal comes to cre8ive with 16 years experience as an instructor of digital publishing, and website design with Winnipeg Technical College. Prior to his teaching career, he accumulated over 15 years of progressive advancement in the commercial printing industry. Val is a graduate of the Vocational Industrial Teacher Education program at RRC, specializing in Graphic Arts. He studied and produced serigraphic prints at Symposium School of Art, and is a founding member of the Calligraphers Guild of Manitoba. He is a former board member of the St. Norbert Arts Center, with credits in technical and artistic production of digital publications, including an exhibit for the Virtual Museum of Canada.

Val's primary responsibilities include overseeing the development of cre8ive's website, and the design and layout of related marketing materials. Val is the owner of Archival Digital Preservation Services, and principal consultant in the custom picture framing and digital services department.

Jordan Miller
Jordan is a graduate of the University of Manitoba's Fine Arts Program as well as a graduate of the University of Winnipeg's Arts and Cultural Management Program. Jordan currently is the director of cre8ery gallery & studios, an 8800 sq/ft creative arts center located in the Exchange District in partnership with Shawn Berard. Jordan is working hard to promote the store and collaborate daily with staff and customers in the Arts community.

Andrew Marek
Andrew has a lifetime accumulation of experience in art creation, art instruction, carpentry and manufacturing. Andrew is associated with various arts organizations in Winnipeg, including ACE Art, Art City, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Winnipeg Sketch Club and ArtsJunktion. Andrew also is a regular sessional instructor at Art City and cre8ery. Andrew graduated with Honours from The Ontario College of Art and continues to build his extensive knowledge of art history, art practices, and art materials and their uses.
